The company will become Indonesia’s largest high-volume seedling manufacturer by expanding its proprietary process for producing high-quality seedlings.
Banyu will aggressively target Sulawesi, the capital of seaweed production in Indonesia, before extending to other significant seaweed-producing regions, including Papua, Nusa Tenggara, Lampung, and Maluku.
BANYU sees a future in which innovation and technology come together to transform Indonesia’s seaweed sector. Its goal is to lead the way in developing an integrated, technology-driven seaweed ecosystem that transforms the whole value chain. By supplying premium inputs, putting cutting-edge agricultural techniques into reality, and launching cutting-edge technology, we’re committed to having a beneficial influence.
Indonesia is a vital link in the worldwide seaweed supply chain and the world’s largest producer of tropical seaweeds. Banyu aims to address these problems with its wide range of services, advancing Indonesia’s seaweed sector through technology, contemporary, sustainable farming methods, and focused assistance for local communities and farmers.
“As the first startup to focus on seedling cultivation with the aim of becoming the largest producer in the region, we are combining cutting-edge technology with deep local knowledge and expertise. This empowers smallholder farmers to achieve higher yields, access global markets, and adopt regenerative practices that benefit both the environment and their communities,” said Dodon Yamin, Co-founder and CEO, Banyu.
“With its status as the world’s largest producer of tropical seaweed, Indonesia is a critical source for seaweed worldwide. Banyu is helping Indonesia climb the seaweed value chain to achieve greater productivity and sustainability,” said Patrick Yip, Founding Partner, Intudo.
Banyu collaborates closely with farmers, merchants, and downstream processors to improve market dynamics and quality assurance. This helps to elevate Indonesia’s seaweeds, and seaweed-related goods and extracts, in the international market.
About Banyu
Founded in December 2023, Banyu’s strategy successfully raises local populations’ standard of living while encouraging efficient, ethical, and sustainable farming methods. In contrast to the already popular practice of employing derivative seedlings from prior harvests, Banyu’s spore seedlings have proven to be able to reliably boost yields by up to 20% through the company’s patented seedling production procedures.
