Malaysia-based Yinson GreenTech and RMS Marine & Offshore Service (Singapore) have agreed to work together to promote cleaner and greener shipping in Singapore.
In a statement released last Thursday, Yinson GreenTech announced that under this agreement, RMS plans to collaborate with them to explore the use of electric boats for operations within Singapore’s port area.
Yinson GreenTech will over see the operation and maintenance of the electric vessels to ensure they operate smoothly and reliably.
RMS will collaborate with Yinson GreenTech to utilize a digital platform that enables the tracking and improvement of their shipping services through data analysis. This will make their operations more transparent and efficient.
“We are delighted to be partnering with RMS in offering novel green technologies for their business needs,
“This milestone sets the basis for Yinson GreenTech to bring cleaner, smarter fleet solutions to the market in supporting maritime decarbonization. Together, we are advancing the shift toward sustainable operations across the industry,” said Jan-Viggo Johansen, Managing Director of marinEV, the marine electrification business of Yinson GreenTech.
Cindy Fan, Group Executive Director at RMS, stated that the partnership demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing pollution in shipping and promoting cleaner, more sustainable supply chains.
“Adopting electric vessels is a fine example of collaboration across the maritime ecosystem, supporting Singapore’s broader push for cleaner and more resilient maritime operations,
“Ultimately, we believe this will also add value to our customers in their journey to measure, optimize and reduce scope 3 carbon emission,” she added.
The agreement comes after a successful trial held on May 23 at Sudong Special Purpose Anchorage.
During the trial, Yinson GreenTech’s electric boat, the Hydromover, was used to move light cargo. It performed well in real working conditions, showing that it can be a reliable and eco-friendly option for harbor transport.
