Axiom Space Partners with India’s Skyroot Aerospace to Boost Space Exploration

Texas-based Axiom Space has made an agreement with India’s Skyroot Aerospace to work together on space exploration and making low-Earth orbit (LEO) more accessible.

This partnership shows the growing connection between Axiom Space and India’s space industry. On June 25, Axiom launched its Mission 4 (Ax-4), which is a historic event for India—it is the country’s return to human spaceflight and its first mission to the International Space Station.

Axe-4 shows how Axiom Space is changing the way people can reach low-Earth orbit (LEO), building a strong foundation for a growing space economy that helps people all over the world.

As Axiom Space works on building Axiom Station, the first commercial space station, it is teaming up with innovative companies like Skyroot Aerospace from around the world. This helps Axiom stay a leader in the future of low-Earth orbit (LEO).

Axiom Space and Skyroot Aerospace are working together to create important new space technology. As part of their partnership, Axiom Space may use Skyroot’s skills for research projects, data centers in orbit, and missions to Axiom Station and other space operations in low-Earth orbit (LEO). Together, they want to help both India and the world by bringing new ideas and easier access to space.

“Enabling greater and equitable access to space, be it for research institutes, startups, or national agencies, is the guiding mantra at Skyroot,” said Pawan Kumar Chandana, co-founder and CEO of Skyroot Aerospace. “As we begin realizing this vision with the upcoming maiden launch of Vikram-1, the partnership with Axiom Space builds an opportunity to explore integrated launch and orbital solutions that will shape humanity’s future in space.”

Tejpaul Bhatia, CEO of Axiom Space, added, “Since the day I visited Skyroot’s facility two years ago, I knew our companies had to work together to define humanity’s future in space. With our shared vision to transform access to space, we look forward to collaborating with Skyroot to serve the growing space ecosystem in India and globally.”

Skyroot Aerospace was started in 2018 by Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka. They have created a special type of rocket that can be changed easily to carry different small satellites for India’s growing space needs. This flexible design helps make space launches more efficient and better suited for each mission.

In 2022, Skyroot made history by becoming the first private company in South Asia to send a rocket into space with its successful Vikram-S flight. Now, the company is getting ready to launch its first big rocket, Vikram-1, which will be an important step for sending satellites into space from India.

Axiom Space was started in 2016 by Kam Ghaffarian and Michael T. Suffredini.

It is a space technology company that is building a commercial space station, makes space suits for astronauts, and offers space travel and manufacturing services to scientists and innovators.
