Uzbekistan-based startup TASS Vision has raised $1.42 million

Uzbekistan-based startup TASS Vision has raised $1.42 million to help retailers gain real-time insights into customer behavior inside physical stores.

Their technology allows businesses to track the entire customer journey, optimize product placement, and measure the effectiveness of in-store marketing campaigns.

What makes TASS Vision unique is its strong focus on privacy—no data is sent to the cloud. Instead, their products rely on edge AI cameras that process images directly on the device.

Founded in 2021 by Shakhzod Umirzakov and Jamshidjon Khakimjonov, the idea for TASS Vision came from Shakhzod’s early experience as a ticket inspector at a bus depot in Tashkent. He noticed that up to 30% of revenue was lost due to human error and fraud.

In response, he created a passenger-counting sensor. Though the product didn’t scale due to market size, it led to a valuable realization: most offline businesses don’t use data effectively.

Driven by this insight, the founders launched TASS Vision to bring the equivalent of “Google Analytics” to the offline retail world. The platform now includes two core products: Vitrac, for customer journey tracking, and Sitrac, for shelf interaction analysis—both running on in-house AI hardware designed with privacy in mind.

“We help retailers run performance marketing – not online, but right on the shop floor. The data shows that many of our clients have increased revenue and reduced operational costs. Our goal isn’t just to automate retail, but to create a new data standard for the entire offline world,” says Shakhzod Umirzakov, one of TASS Vision’s founders.

TASS Vision is already active in over 2,000 retail stores across 10 countries, working with more than 100 brands in sectors like electronics, fashion, FMCG, and pharmaceuticals.

The €1.3 million funding round was led by Purple Ventures, contributing €500,000. The rest came from investors including Domino VC, Pragma Tech VC, Sabah Fund, Caucasus VC, Big Sky Capital, and IT Park VC.

Early backers Bachrom Abduqadirov and Ahror Abdukarimov, along with 500 Global, UzVC, and Activat, also participated, having supported the startup since 2022.

“This is a true data revolution for brick-and-mortar retail. TASS Vision delivers what e-commerce has had for years – precise and detailed insight into customer behaviour and measurability. With its own hardware and software, the company has a strong technological edge and an extremely efficient business model,” says Jan Davídek, Partner at Purple Ventures, adding:

“We believe the combination of edge AI and retail will be one of the defining trends of the coming years, and TASS Vision is well-positioned to become a leader in this category.

That’s why we didn’t hesitate to invest, even in faraway Uzbekistan – becoming the first fund from our region to do so.”

In the last two years, TASS Vision has grown by 500% year-over-year, with most new clients coming through referrals. The company now has a team of 35 people spread across Uzbekistan, South Korea, and China, where R&D focuses on AI models, image processing, and edge hardware.

The fresh funding will support the development of next-gen proprietary cameras, which are expected to be up to 20× faster, more energy-efficient, and easier to deploy globally. TASS Vision also aims to simplify installation and make its technology even more accessible to a wider range of customers.
