Bridge Alliance, a leading group of mobile network operators in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, has partnered again with Aeris Communications, a global company that provides cellular Internet of Things (IoT) platforms and solutions. Together, they will offer Asia Pacific (APAC) businesses the world’s first fully integrated cellular IoT security solution.
Bridge Alliance said in a statement last Thursday that they are teaming up to offer Aeris IoT Watchtower, an agentless and frictionless solution that delivers full visibility into the cyber risk of enterprise customers’ IoT devices plus the tools to prevent or limit damage from an attack.
This new agreement builds on a current partnership where Aeris helps Bridge Alliance member operators manage cellular IoT connections using its Aeris IoT Accelerator (IoTA) platform.
Enterprises are facing big challenges in keeping their growing number of cellular IoT devices safe because hackers are increasingly targeting these devices to break into company networks.
Research from Forrester shows that IoT devices inside companies are now the main target for cyberattacks.
However, current IoT connection solutions don’t provide businesses with the complete control and clear view they need to identify and prevent these threats.
At the same time, many industries, such as the automotive and utilities sectors, are utilizing cellular IoT to create new revenue streams and enhance operational efficiency.
The number of connected cellular IoT devices is growing fast worldwide. According to Berg Insights, there are currently 1.1 billion such devices, and this number is expected to increase by 16% annually over the next three years.
The Asia-Pacific region is also growing fast, with 170 million connected cellular IoT devices now and expected to almost double by 2030.
To help keep these devices safe, Aeris and Bridge Alliance are collaborating to introduce the new Aeris IoT Watchtower solution to businesses in the Asia-Pacific region. This solution has two main parts: “Awareness” and “Enforcement.” It helps companies see and control their IoT devices to find security problems quickly and reduce damage from any attacks.
The solution also provides regular reports on risks and device information, helping businesses operate more efficiently and comply with regulations.
Aeris IoT Watchtower is already available in the United States and Europe and is now being introduced in Asia-Pacific with the help of Bridge Alliance.
“The commercial launch of Aeris IoT Watchtower in Asia-Pacific for our BMOs and their customers is a milestone in enhancing security for the IoTA platform, and will boost security and regulatory compliance for enterprise IoT deployments and offer advanced network visibility to meet cybersecurity needs,
“We look forward to extending Watchtower into more APAC markets in the coming months,” said Dr. Ong Geok Chwee, Chief Executive Officer of Bridge Alliance.
Aeris IoT Watchtower offers real-time protection with zero friction. Forget agents, special SIM cards, or complex rerouting,
“We provide enterprises complete visibility into their cellular IoT security risks and the ability to neutralize threats before they impact operations, all seamlessly built into their existing cellular data path,” said Mark Cratsenburg, Chief Commercial Officer for the IoT Business Unit at Aeris.
