Nibertex Raises $7M Series A to Scale PFAS-Free Textile Membrane Production

Nibertex, a deep-tech manufacturing company from Singapore that makes waterproof and breathable textile membranes without using harmful PFAS chemicals, announced last Friday that it has raised $7 million in a Series A funding round.

The round was led by Southeast Asian venture capital firm TNB Aura, with participation from existing investors Asian Development Bank (ADB), Faircrest Holding, and Foxmont Capital Partners, Nibertex said in a statement.

With the new Series A funding, Nibertex plans to increase its manufacturing capacity by investing in new equipment to produce more and meet growing demand.

The company will also boost its research and development to create membrane products for industries other than clothing.

In addition, Nibertex will work on expanding its market presence by stepping up sales efforts and forming partnerships with global brands.

“This funding milestone represents a pivotal moment for Nibertex as we scale our operations to meet the surging global demand for sustainable textile alternatives,

“Our proprietary nanospinning technology gives us a competitive edge in delivering high-performance, environmentally responsible solutions that the industry desperately needs,” said Jae H. Park, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Nibertex.

Meanwhile, Richard Beck, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Nibertex and a former senior executive at W. L. Gore & Associates (GORE-TEX), emphasized the urgency of industry transformation.

“PFAS-free performance materials are no longer a ‘nice to have’ — they’re fast becoming a requirement. At Nibertex, we’re combining decades of scientific and commercial expertise to deliver membrane solutions that meet real-world technical demands,

“With our global outlook and deep materials knowledge, we aim to serve as a trusted partner to manufacturers navigating this critical shift,” he added.

PFAS are man-made chemicals often used in things like rain jackets, sportswear, medical gowns, food packaging, and non-stick cookware to make them resist water and stains.

But these chemicals are now facing global criticism because they stay in the environment for a long time and are linked to serious health risks.

With more countries in the US, EU, and Asia-Pacific banning PFAS, there’s a growing need for safe alternatives that still work well.

Nibertex is tackling this problem with its special electrospinning (nanospinning) technology and formula, which makes PFAS-free membranes that are both waterproof and breathable—offering high performance while being better for the environment.

“Nibertex is solving a pressing challenge for the global materials industry. Their early commercial success, coupled with cost-effective manufacturing capabilities in the Philippines and a product that stands strong against global membrane players, gives us high conviction.

“This marks TNB Aura’s first major investment in the Philippines, and we’re excited to partner with Nibertex to scale a solution with true global potential,” said Vicknesh Pillay, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at TNB Aura.

Founded in 2019, Nibertex has developed its manufacturing process that allows large-scale production of PFAS-free membranes.

These membranes are ultra-soft, quiet, stretchable, and blend seamlessly into fabrics, making them perfect for performance clothing, healthcare products, industrial uses, and consumer goods.

The company’s growth reflects a larger industry move toward sustainable manufacturing and meeting new environmental rules.

As governments around the world tighten PFAS regulations, companies like Nibertex, which provide proven alternatives, are becoming more valuable for manufacturers looking to prepare for the future.

Nibertex’s electrospinning technology is also a breakthrough in membrane production, allowing the creation of materials that are safe for the environment while still offering the high performance that made PFAS-based products popular for tough applications.
