Solar panel maker Goldi Solar has received a INR 137.5 crore investment from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath.
The company said the funds will be used to start producing solar cells as part of its expansion.
“Renewable energy in India is a massive sector, and there is an equally massive opportunity to build global-scale companies right here on our home ground. It is imperative that we back these companies to accelerate the country’s clean energy transition,” said investor Nikhil Kamath.
Goldi Solar was founded in 2011 by Ishverbhai Dholakia and is based in Surat, Gujarat. The company says it is India’s largest solar module manufacturer, with 14 years of experience and advanced production facilities.
In less than a year (about 11–12 months), Goldi Solar expanded its solar module manufacturing capacity from 3 GW to 14.7 GW.
Goldi Solar is now moving into large-scale solar cell manufacturing to serve both Indian and global markets.
The company said it will focus on making high-efficiency solar modules and using advanced cell technologies, targeting customers at home and abroad.
