LightYX Secures $11M Series A to Transform Construction Layouts with Laser Tech

Israeli construction tech company LightYX has raised $11 million in Series A funding to grow its laser-based layout projection system. This tool helps construction workers by reducing mistakes made during on-site layout work, one of the biggest problems in the industry.

The funding round was led by NOVA by Saint-Gobain, the investment arm of the French building materials giant. Other investors included Yachad Capital Partners, Shibumi International, and Somersault Ventures from the U.S. and abroad.

Since it was founded, LightYX has also received six grants from the Israel Innovation Authority, adding up to $3.3 million.

On construction sites around the world, workers still use tape measures, chalk lines, and paper drawings to turn blueprints into real layouts.

LightYX wants to change this with its special electro-optical system, which projects the plans directly onto walls, floors, and ceilings with an accuracy of less than two millimeters.

The system helps workers install drywall, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems with much higher accuracy. Its built-in scanners also adjust the projections instantly to match real site conditions.

“Construction layout is still often done with chalk lines, tape measures, and paper drawings. We’re replacing that with live, intelligent laser projection,” said Guy Ben-Romano, CEO and co-founder of LightYX.

LightYX is already working with many contractors and subcontractors in the U.S., especially for drywall and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. Its system has been used in hundreds of projects, covering over 25 million square feet of construction layouts.
