Qatar’s EMMA Systems Raises Seed Funding from Plus VC

EMMA Systems, an AI-based software platform that brings together real-time data from airports, airlines, and other aviation players to improve efficiency, predictability, and sustainability, announced a new investment from Plus VC, MENA’s most active venture capital firm, along with support from two top angel investors.

EMMA Systems was founded by technology entrepreneur Wisam Costandi and aviation expert Mohammad Hourani. They built the company based on their deep experience and firsthand knowledge of the challenges airports and airlines face.

Wisam Costandi aimed to help airports prepare for unexpected events and move from old reactive technologies to proactive operations, improving efficiency across airports.

Mohammad Hourani’s expertise in airport operations and systems integration helped make EMMA a scalable, future-ready platform. Together, they are transforming efficiency and sustainability in an industry long dominated by legacy systems.

Wisam, Co-founder & CEO of EMMA Systems, said: “This investment from +VC is a major milestone for EMMA Systems. With the backing of Plus VC, a seasoned and highly respected venture capital firm in the MENA region known for its strong legacy of supporting and scaling disruptive startups we are confident in our ability to accelerate growth and achieve both our short-term and long-term objectives. Plus VC’s deep expertise, extensive network, and proven track record of building category-defining companies will be invaluable as we drive our vision forward and transform the aviation technology landscape.”

“Aviation is an industry craving innovation, where minutes matter and data-driven decisions can make the difference between efficiency and costly disruption. Since its inception, EMMA Systems has gained strong momentum in the aviation ecosystem. We have successfully deployed our platform with leading international airports and reputed global airlines in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, demonstrating measurable improvements in operational efficiency and decision-making. Industry experts have also recognized EMMA for its innovative approach earning multiple awards and establishing collaborations with regulatory bodies and air traffic service providers. This early traction with reputed airports and airlines already adopting our award-winning platform, underscores the company’s potential to become a critical enabler of the future of aviation,” he added.

The new funding will be used to improve EMMA’s AI-powered platform, making airport and airline operations smarter, safer, and more sustainable. It will also help develop new products, including the Total Airport Management solution and support the company’s global growth.

Commenting on the fundraising announcement, Hasan Haider, Founder and Managing Partner at Plus VC, said: “The aviation industry is facing increasingly complex challenges, and EMMA Systems is a critical fit, helping make air traffic and airport operations more intelligent, safer, and more efficient. We were deeply impressed by Wisam and Mohammad’s vision and the team’s ability to execute building a platform with the potential to transform global aviation. At Plus VC, we believe EMMA is setting a new standard for how the industry leverages technology and we are excited to back them on their journey as they pioneer and establish themselves as leaders in this space.”

Industry studies from Airports Council International (ACI) Bain & Company, and regional airport authorities show steady growth in passenger traffic and over $150 billion in planned airport infrastructure investments in the coming decades. Many airports are operating near full capacity and need ways to increase efficiency while supporting sustainability goals.

Upgrading outdated IT systems like Airport Operational Databases and adopting improved processes such as Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM), Turnaround Management Systems (TMS) and eventually Total Airport Management (TAM) are becoming key priorities to enhance operations and passenger experience.
