Cybersecurity startup Rein Security has raised $8 million in funding. The round was led by Glilot Capital and included well-known industry leaders such as Ofer Ben-Noon (CEO of Talon and co-founder of Argus), Amir Jerbi (founder of Aqua Security), and Yoav Alon (CTO of Orca Security).
Founded in 2024, Rein Security has offices in Tel Aviv and New York. The company currently has around 23 employees.
Rein Security was founded by Matan Bar-Efrat (CEO and co-founder) and Netanel Rubin (CTO and co-founder). Both are alumni of Unit 8200, an elite Israeli intelligence unit.
After serving as an officer in Unit 8200, Bar-Efrat worked as European sales manager at Cyberbit until the company was acquired by Elbit Systems. Before that, he also served as regional manager for the Netherlands at Elbit Systems.
Netanel Rubin also served in Unit 8200 before joining Check Point, where he led the company’s vulnerability research team.
In 2018, Rubin founded a cybersecurity startup called Holcy and served as its CTO. The company was acquired by Elbit Systems in 2020. After the acquisition, Rubin became head of strategic cyber technologies at Elbit and was later appointed CTO of Elbit’s cyber division.
Rein Security works on fixing major security gaps in application security and AI. The company has built a platform that lets organizations manage all their application security operations in one place, rather than using multiple tools.
The Rein platform addresses key application security (AppSec) needs, including API security and software composition analysis (SCA). It uses real-time application data to identify real security risks in live systems instead of just theoretical issues.
This approach helps security teams clearly see which APIs and software libraries are actually being used in production and which vulnerabilities can truly be exploited. As a result, teams can prioritize and fix the most critical issues more effectively.
“Security teams have been forced to play guesswork for far too long and we can no longer allow application security to be rooted in assumptions instead of reality,” said Matan Bar Efrat, co-founder and CEO of Rein Security. “We founded Rein to give CISOs and AppSec leaders the ability to protect every app, MCP, library and API without disruption. By seeing and controlling exactly what happens to apps in production, teams can resolve real issues quickly rather than spending excessive time on investigations and analysis.”
