Palo Alto Networks, a global cybersecurity company, has completed its acquisition of CyberArk. This move makes identity security a key part of its overall platform strategy.
By adding the CyberArk Identity Security Platform, Palo Alto Networks can now better protect digital identities across organizations.
This includes securing human users such as employees, as well as machine identities like software and systems.
Identity security has become very important for protecting modern businesses. As companies use more cloud services, automation, and AI, identity has become the main target for cyberattacks. Today, machine and AI identities greatly outnumber human users, and many companies still use outdated systems that give people more access than they need. Because of this, identity-related attacks are rising, and nearly 90% of organizations have experienced a breach linked to identity.
The acquisition of CyberArk helps Palo Alto Networks respond to this growing risk. It expands strong security controls to protect not just a few administrators, but every identity across the organization.
By managing and limiting access for human, machine, and AI identities, companies can reduce unnecessary privileges and stop attackers from moving easily within their systems.
Organizations that use identity-based security can respond to breaches up to 80% faster by preventing misuse of login details and excessive access.
CyberArk’s Identity Security solutions will still be available as a standalone platform. At the same time, Palo Alto Networks is integrating CyberArk’s technology into its wider security ecosystem. Existing customers will not face any disruption and will benefit from improved security, better efficiency, and a stronger product roadmap.
Nikesh Arora, Chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks, said: “The emerging wave of AI agents will require us to secure every identity—human, machine, and agent. This is why we moved decisively by announcing our intent to acquire CyberArk last July and am excited to have product integration begin. For our customers, this means the end of ‘identity silos.’ They can now manage privileged access across their entire hybrid cloud environment from the same company they trust for Network Security and Security Operations—to ensure they are secure in the AI era.”
Matt Cohen, CEO of CyberArk, said: “Joining forces with Palo Alto Networks creates the definitive cyber guardian for the modern enterprise. This is a win-win: our customers gain access to the world’s most comprehensive security portfolio, and our employees join a global innovation engine. Together, we are creating the most robust combination of proven technologies to stop identity-driven breaches.”
