Practo, one of India’s largest digital healthcare platforms, has appointed C K Mishra as an independent director on its board.
Mishra previously served as Secretary of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, where he managed one of the world’s largest public health systems and oversaw major national health programs. His experience in handling large healthcare operations and infrastructure is expected to support Practo’s growth as an integrated healthcare platform.
He joins a board that recently welcomed TVG Krishnamurthy and Alexander Kuruvilla.
C K Mishra, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with 37 years of experience, retired in 2020 after holding senior roles in health, environment, education, industry, and power. As Health Secretary, he helped manage one of the world’s largest public health systems, coordinating multiple government programs and stakeholders.
“Healthcare systems today require transparency, structured information, and accountability at scale. Digital platforms that can organise complex healthcare data and enable informed decision-making have the potential to significantly improve access and outcomes. Practo has built a neutral, technology-driven ecosystem connecting patients, providers and payors, and I believe such platforms can play an important role in strengthening healthcare delivery. I look forward to contributing to this journey, said Mishra.
Shashank ND, founder and CEO, Practo, said, “It is an honour for us that C K Mishra has chosen to join Practo’s board and, notably, make this his first such association with a company in the healthcare space. His experience in building and governing large-scale systems will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our platform. We see ourselves as building foundational healthcare infrastructure that enables transparency, neutrality and informed choice. As an independent platform working across stakeholders our responsibility is to ensure that verified information and measurable outcomes help patients make decisions without bias. In a sector where trust is paramount, neutrality becomes critical infrastructure, and his guidance will help us deepen that trust as we scale.”
This appointment comes as Practo continues to expand internationally, growing its services in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. The company is also strengthening its technology and product leadership.
Founded in 2008, Practo operates a global healthcare platform where patients can search for doctors, book appointments, and access medical services. Its consumer platform connects users with more than 700,000 doctors and healthcare providers across 2,400+ cities, while its hospital management software is used by over 500 clients in 1,200 healthcare facilities.
