Spacetech startup Satleo Labs has raised US$2.2 million in a seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures.
Other investors like Merak Ventures, Java Capital, and IIMA-CIIE also took part in the round.
The company will use the funds to improve its thermal satellite project and build its AI-based platform for better thermal data and insights.
“Sustainability has become imperative amid accelerating climate change, rapid urbanization, and increasing global uncertainties driven by heat anomalies,” said Shravan Bhati, Co-founder & CEO, SatLeo Labs.
“At SatLeo Labs, we are developing a state-of-the-art thermal imaging satellite constellation designed to deliver actionable thermal intelligence at scale. This fundraise represents a critical milestone as we transition into the execution phase of our next mission—advancing payload performance, accelerating constellation deployment and scaling our global thermal data capabilities.”
SatLeo Labs was founded in 2023 by Shravan Bhati, Urmil Bakhai, and Ranendu Ghosh. The company is based in Ahmedabad and builds satellite systems that collect thermal and visual data from space.
Its technology is used in different areas like defense, agriculture, city planning, and climate monitoring.
The startup has created its first thermal system called TAPAS-1 and is now preparing to add it to a satellite. It has also started pilot projects, such as tracking heat and air pollution in cities like Ahmedabad and Tumakuru.
SatLeo currently has a team of around 30 people and is working on growing its business, with potential deals worth over $42 million.
In the next year, the company plans to get ready for its satellite launch, expand its business, and further improve its thermal data technology.
