AWS and SHI India Join Hands to Build AI Infrastructure for IndiaAI Mission

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has partnered with SHI India (formerly Locuz) to support the development of AI models in India under the IndiaAI Mission.

This partnership aims to make AI tools available to government departments, startups, businesses, universities, and research organizations across the country.

SHI India is part of this mission and is providing AWS AI services like Amazon SageMaker. These tools help organizations build and train large AI models easily, without needing deep technical knowledge or complex infrastructure.

Amazon Web Services is using its generative AI tools like Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker, along with SHI India’s local support, to help India become more independent in technology and a leader in AI.

Amazon SageMaker helps solve common problems in training large AI models using GPUs. It can automatically set up systems, continue training without needing constant checkpoints, and fix issues if something fails.

Because of this automation, companies don’t have to manage complex GPU systems manually. This makes AI training faster, smoother, and more cost-effective, especially when building large AI models.

“India’s ambition to lead in AI is not simply about access to technology, it is about building an environment where innovation becomes the core and provides the groundwork across sectors; from government institutions to enterprises and the startups that are reimagining what’s possible”, said Sandeep Dutta, President, AWS India and South Asia. “What truly inspires me about the IndiaAI Mission is its clarity of purpose – that real technological leadership is earned by empowering India’s innovators to solve challenges that are unique to India. Our collaboration with SHI India is designed to ensure that organizations across the country have both the infrastructure and the capability to turn AI from experimentation into real-world impact. This is how India will build solutions that serve citizens and set global standards.”

“The IndiaAI Mission represents a transformative opportunity for India’s technology sector, and SHI India is honored to collaborate with AWS in this national initiative,” said Uttam Majumdar, SVP, SHI India. “By combining AWS’s AI services with our deep understanding of Indian enterprise needs and regulatory requirements, we’re enabling organizations to adopt AI with confidence. Our focus is on making enterprise-grade AI accessible, practical, and impactful for Indian organizations across multiple sectors.”

Amazon Web Services’ partnership with SHI India will help government departments and businesses use AI more easily.

It will also speed up their digital transformation and help them build AI solutions designed for India’s specific needs across different industries.
