Definity, a startup that builds software to help companies manage their data systems, has raised US$12 million in Series A funding. This takes its total funding so far to US$16.5 million.

The funding round was led by GreatPoint Ventures. Other participants included Dynatrace, along with existing investors StageOne Ventures and Hyde Park Venture Partners.

Definity is focusing on a growing problem in company data systems. As businesses depend more on data for AI and daily operations, engineering teams are under pressure to work faster while keeping systems reliable and costs low.

Most current tools only track one part of the system, like performance or data quality. They don’t give a complete picture, which means teams often find and fix problems only after they happen.

The company’s platform uses AI to improve how data systems work. It is built directly into live data pipelines and watches everything in real time. It collects details about how the system runs, how tasks are executed, and how data behaves.

With this information, the system can automatically find problems and fix them as they happen, without waiting for human action.

The company says this helps businesses save money, avoid system failures, and speed up development. The platform also works with both cloud and on-premise systems, including services like Databricks, AWS EMR, and Google Cloud Dataproc.

The company was founded by Roy Daniel, Ohad Raviv, and Tom Bar-Yacov. They have also introduced a new platform that uses artificial intelligence to automatically manage enterprise data systems.

This system is designed to handle data pipelines built on technologies like Apache Spark and lakehouse architectures, which are commonly used for data analysis and AI applications.
