Agrani Labs Raises $8 Million in Seed Funding Led by Peak XV

After working quietly for some time, Agrani Labs has officially launched as an AI semiconductor startup. The company was founded by experienced professionals who previously worked at Intel and AMD.

Agrani Labs has raised $8 million in a seed funding round led by Peak XV Partners, along with support from angel investors. The money will be used to grow the engineering team and speed up product development, as the company aims to build world-class AI computing solutions from India.

“We are excited to emerge from stealth.AI is by far the most impactful technology inflection in the last century. For a team that has lived and breathed compute architecture for decades, building an AI computer grounds-up to help advance the potential of this technology is gratifying. We are leveraging India’s immense semiconductor and software talent to build a product that will compete on the global stage,” said Dheemanth Nagaraj, Co-founder & CEO of Agrani Labs.

“Accelerated compute silicon (GPUs) is one of the most attractive and strategic markets globally. We are excited to partner with them as they aspire to build one of the world’s leading fabless semiconductor companies, from India.” said Ashish Agrawal, MD Peak XV Partners.

Founded in 2024 by Dheemanth Nagaraj, Ashok Jagannathan, Srikanth Nimmagadda, and Rajesh Vivekanandham, Agrani Labs is a Bengaluru-based startup.

The company is building a high-performance AI GPU for data centres, entering a rapidly growing market led by a small number of global players.

The startup is building a complete AI computing platform that includes both hardware and software. Along with designing GPUs, it is also developing its own software, such as compilers, libraries, system software, and AI frameworks.

Vinod Dham, widely known as the “Father of the Pentium,” has joined Agrani Labs as a founding advisor. He helped shape Intel’s processor roadmap and has strong ties to India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Agrani Labs has already made good progress on its architecture and product design. It has created early versions of both its hardware and software.

The company is working with academic institutions, semiconductor partners, government research organizations, and software communities to speed up development.
