AI Security Startup Repello AI Raises $1.2 Million from Venture Highway

Repello AI, a startup that focuses on making AI technology more secure, has raised $1.2 million in its first round of funding. The money came from investors, including Venture Highway, Pi Ventures, and Entrepreneur First.

Several individual investors also joined in this funding round. These include Charles Songhurst, a board member at Meta, Vivek Raghavan, the CEO of Sarvam AI, and Satya Vas, the CEO of Project Hero.

The startup plans to use the funds to expand its product offerings, strengthen its brand, increase customer reach, and collaborate with companies worldwide.

“We’re at an inflection point where AI adoption is accelerating faster than security solutions can keep pace,” said Aryaman Behera, co-founder and CEO of Repello. “Enterprises are deploying generative AI across every function, but they’re doing it with yesterday’s security playbook.”

Behera provided examples from real life—such as a chatbot at a car dealership incorrectly allowing $1 purchases—to illustrate why AI safety is so crucial. He said using generative AI without proper security is like living in a house without a door.

Repello was started in 2024 by Aryaman Behera and Naman Mishra, both graduates of IIT Roorkee. The company helps protect generative AI systems by testing them with simulated real-world attacks to identify weaknesses and suggest ways to mitigate and secure them.

Repello’s main product is called ARTEMIS (Automated Red Teaming Engine for Mapping, Identification and Scanning). It checks generative AI models—like those that work with text, images, or audio—for any weak spots or security issues.

Another product, Repello Guard, operates in real time. It helps block harmful or risky outputs and can catch problems like prompt injection, leaks of sensitive prompts, or even mentions of competitors.

Repello’s tech and research teams are based in Bengaluru, while the sales and marketing teams are located in San Francisco.

Repello AI claims to be already working with companies like Groww and PhysicsWallah. It’s also testing its products with trial runs (POCs) in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.
