Aidoc raises $150 million in round to advance AI in clinical decision-making

Aidoc, a company that builds AI tools to help doctors make real-time medical decisions, has raised US$150 million in new funding. This comes less than a year after it raised a similar amount.

So far, the company has raised more than $500 million in total funding. The latest investment round was led by a fund managed by Goldman Sachs.

The company has attracted a strong group of investors. These include Nvidia’s investment arm NVentures, along with well-known venture capital firms like General Catalyst, Square Peg, TCV (which has backed companies such as Netflix and Spotify), Magma, and TLV Partners.

Along with these investors, major U.S. healthcare systems like Mercy and Hartford HealthCare have also put money into the company. Amazon Web Services is also one of its investors.

The new funding will be used to further develop CARE, which is the company’s main AI system and core technology.

Earlier AI systems were designed to detect only one medical problem at a time, like a brain bleed or a broken rib. But CARE is different. It is trained on millions of medical scans and can look at a scan as a whole.

This allows it to detect many different issues at once and also understand what those findings mean in a medical context.

Founded in 2016 by Elad Walach, Michael Braginsky, and Guy Reiner, All three founders are graduates of the IDF’s Talpiot program, a special training program in Israel.

Aidoc’s AI technology is now used in more than 1,600 medical centers around the world, including major hospitals like Sheba Medical Center.

The company also runs one of the most advanced AI research centers in healthcare. Its platform is used in thousands of hospitals globally and in most hospitals across Israel.

Aidoc has FDA-approved tools that help doctors in real time by sending alerts for serious and life-threatening conditions, such as brain hemorrhages, aneurysms, fractures, heart-related aortic issues, and blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolisms).
