Let’s begin.
This is the inspiring story of Air Doctor, a startup founded by Israeli entrepreneurs. Their journey began with a frustrating experience, but instead of overlooking the problem, they turned it into an opportunity, starting a new chapter to bridge a crucial gap.
The minds behind the startup:
Meet the founders of a multimillion dollar worth company, Air Doctor: Jenny Cohen Derfler (CEO), Yam Derfler (VP Innovation & Medical Network), Yegor Kurbachev (CTO & VP R&D), and Efrat Sagi-Ofir (co-founder & CRO). All four innovative minds are behind their startup, Air Doctor, a platform for accessible medical care abroad. Through their collective efforts, they are not only contributing to the healthcare sector but also creating a positive environment during foreign travel.
Inspiration behind the story:
During a trip to South America in 2014, Yam Derfler, one of the co-founders of Air Doctor, fell sick and required medical help. Being in an unfamiliar country, he struggled to find a private doctor who could help. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t locate a reliable healthcare provider nearby. Eventually, he had to visit a local hospital, where, after spending long hours, he experienced poor and disappointing treatment.
Yam shared his troubling experience with co-founder Jenny, and their discussion led them to understand the challenges faced by travelers when seeking medical care abroad. They soon discovered that a survey highlighted a concerning trend of travelers, including many of Yam’s own friends, choosing to delay or avoid seeking medical treatment while abroad. As they analyzed the data and spoke to more people, they realized how common this issue really was.
The story behind the startup:
At this point, they recognized the need to find a solution that would prevent anyone from putting their health at risk, particularly while traveling abroad. Despite seeing this as a problem, they saw it as an opportunity, and they came up with a business idea to make a meaningful & positive impact while traveling abroad. Their mission became clear: to provide travelers worldwide with better access to healthcare.
To fulfill this mission, they were soon joined by YegorKurbachev and EfratSagi-Ofir as co-founders. Together, this passionate team set out to build a platform that would not only connect travelers to trusted doctors but also provide peace of mind by making healthcare more accessible, no matter the destination. This was the beginning of their startup, Air Doctor.
