Alibaba Cloud and IMDA Team Up to Boost AI and Cloud Use for 3,000 Singapore SMEs and Digital Providers

Alibaba Cloud and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have teamed up to help up to 3,000 local small and medium businesses and digital solution providers go digital faster. Their partnership will support these companies in using cloud technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to grow and improve their services.

Alibaba Cloud said last Wednesday that small and medium-sized businesses make up 99% of all companies in Singapore and provide jobs for 7 out of 10 local workers. This shows how important they are to the country’s economy.

The program wants to help small and medium businesses grow by giving them the right cloud and AI tools, training, and marketing support. This will help them come up with new ideas, expand their business, and find more chances to succeed.

Up to 3,000 small businesses and tech providers will get a full set of tools and expert help to speed up their use of cloud and AI technologies.

To help lower initial costs and encourage more businesses to use cloud services, eligible small businesses and digital solution providers can get $1,000 worth of cloud credits. These credits can be used for most services offered by Alibaba Cloud.

The program also includes training in artificial intelligence (AI) and technology.

Participants will get access to six hands-on AI workshops each year, including training on Alibaba Cloud’s own Qwen large language model and its AI development platform, Model Studio.

Businesses will get regular help every three months, including advice and technical support, to make sure they use cloud and AI technologies in the best way possible.

The program also includes activities to reach out to businesses. Alibaba Cloud will hold events to help small businesses learn about and start using cloud and AI technologies.

The program will share success stories to show how it’s helping businesses. Participants will also get special chances to be featured at Alibaba Cloud’s events.

“As a global leader in cloud computing and AI innovation, Alibaba Cloud brings world-class technology and deep industry expertise to empower Singapore’s SMEs on their digital journey,” said Selina Yuan, President of International Business, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

“We are honoured to collaborate with IMDA to support the government’s vision of a vibrant digital economy,

“We are not only enabling businesses to adopt advanced cloud and AI tools but also fostering an ecosystem of continuous learning and digital resilience that will position Singapore as a leading smart nation in the years ahead,” she added.

Johnson Poh, Assistant Chief Executive of the Sectoral Transformation Group at IMDA, said that as technologies like cloud computing and AI change the world’s economy, it’s very important for small businesses to build digital skills so they can compete and succeed.

“This partnership with Alibaba Cloud combines strong technology knowledge and global experience to help our digital solution providers and small businesses use advanced tools like generative AI and flexible cloud systems.”

“By equipping businesses with the right tools and knowledge, we are strengthening the foundation of enterprises to be future-ready for Singapore’s digital economy,” he added.

Alibaba Cloud is launching the Digital Accelerator Program as it celebrates 10 years in Singapore. This milestone shows the company’s strong commitment to helping the country grow its digital future.
