Amicus Capital Closes Second Fund at $214 Million, Exceeds Target

Bengaluru-based private equity firm Amicus Capital Partners has successfully closed its second fund with $214 million (about Rs 1,800 crore), which is more than its original goal of $200 million (around Rs 1,700 crore).

The fund is called Amicus Capital Partners India Fund II. It is registered with SEBI as a Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF).

Launched in March 2023, the fund plans to invest in small and medium-sized private companies in India.

“The fundraise exceeded our initial target of $200 Mn is a testament to the trust our investors have placed in us. We are grateful to all our investors, as well as everyone who has worked to get us here…,” Amicus Capital co-founder and partner Mahesh Parasuraman said.

Amicus was started in 2016 by Parasuraman and Sunil Theckath Vasudevan. Since then, it has invested in 14 companies, including well-known ones like Aequs, mCaffeine, MoEngage, and Wonderchef.

Right now, Amicus manages a total of $302 million in assets.

One of the main investors in Fund II is India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), a government-backed fund. It invested Rs 207 crore in the fund.
