The New York Liberty and Ant International’s Alipay+, a Singapore-based cross-border fintech platform, announced last Thursday a multiyear partnership, naming Alipay+ as an Official Sponsor and Innovation Partner for Sustainability of the team.
As part of the collaboration, Alipay+ and the Liberty will jointly support community initiatives focused on empowerment, environmental sustainability, and youth development throughout New York City, Ant International said in a statement.
“Our partnership with Alipay+ goes beyond the game. Together, we are investing in the future of New York—its people, its environment, and its youth,
“Ant International’s commitment to community empowerment, sustainability and digital innovation makes them an ideal partner for our mission,” said Keia Clarke, Chief Executive Officer, New York Liberty.
According to the statement, Alipay+ will play a central role in the Liberty’s community initiatives, focusing on community empowerment, environmental conservation, and youth development.
The partnership will target three key areas: community empowerment, sustainability, and youth sports and technology education. Alipay+ will work with the Liberty to provide resources and digital tools that strengthen local communities and promote confidence and resilience.
On the environmental front, Alipay+ will support urban reforestation and other conservation projects, including Threes for Trees, which plants a tree for every three-pointer made by the Liberty during the season, as well as a community initiative to recycle used shoes and refurbish public basketball courts.
For youth development, Alipay+ will back sports and technology programs through workshops and clinics co-designed with local partners, emphasizing digital skills, technology access, and financial literacy—helping bridge the digital divide and inspire the next generation of leaders.
“To us, the story of New York Liberty embodies the legendary New York spirit: one of incredible talent, passion, teamwork and perseverance,
“These winning qualities echo strongly with the Alipay+ community, where young entrepreneurs and global institutions partner up to push the frontier of innovation for underserved communities and small businesses,” said Douglas Feagin, President of Ant International.
