Visual telematics startup Cautio has acquired BYTES, an AI-based automotive startup that works on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for two-wheelers. This move will help Cautio strengthen and expand its safety solutions for bikes and scooters.
Cautio provides AI-powered dash cameras and operating systems for cars, cabs, buses, logistics fleets, and enterprise vehicles. With this acquisition the company aims to build a complete road safety platform for all types of vehicles, with a special focus on improving safety for two-wheelers—an area that is often overlooked.
While the deal value was not shared, Cautio confirmed that the BYTES team will join its R&D division to develop advanced safety technologies for two-wheelers.
Cautio plans to increase its investments in this area by expanding research and committing long-term engineering resources. The company will focus on improving rider visibility, real-time risk detection, incident recording, and customised response systems.
“Every incident we see reminds us that safety in India cannot remain limited to three- and four-wheelers and commercial fleets,” Ankit Acharya, co-founder and chief executive officer of Cautio, said in a statement. “Two-wheelers are at the heart of Indian mobility, and they deserve the same attention, intelligence, and care that larger fleets receive today.”
“Our mission at BYTES has always been to make riding safer without adding friction,” BYTES co-founders Aayush and Prakhar said. “As Cautio has already shown how video intelligence can reshape mobility safety in India, we’re excited to scale our work inside a platform that understands both the urgency and the responsibility of what we’re building”
BYTES was founded in 2023 by Aayush Kumar and Prakhar Agrawal and is based in Bengaluru.
The company uses its own vision-based AI safety system to provide real-time risk detection and advanced driver assistance (ADAS) solutions for two-wheelers.
BYTES, which stands for Beyond Your Technological Explorations, is backed by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s WTFund, IIT Mandi Catalyst, NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore, and Startup Karnataka.
Cautio was founded in 2023 by Ankit Acharya and Pranjal Nadhan. The company analyzes millions of kilometres of video data every day from over 50 cities using its 24×7 command centre.
Cautio’s platform provides real-time insights on driver safety and helps prevent accidents. It can detect road conditions and risky driver behaviors such as fatigue, distraction, overspeeding, and collisions.
These insights help fleet operators reduce accidents, improve rule compliance, and lower insurance and operating costs. Cautio also plans to launch insurance mapping using data from its growing platform.
