ChemLex secures $45 million funding Led by Granite Asia

AI-driven science startup ChemLex has secured USD $45 million in new funding and officially launched its global headquarters and autonomous laboratory in Singapore. This marks a major step forward for the company as it pushes to advance self-driving technologies for drug discovery.

Led by Granite Asia, the new funding round will help ChemLex speed up the development of its fully automated AI platform, designed to transform research in pharmaceuticals and materials science. With this support, the company aims to bring faster, smarter, and more efficient scientific discovery to the global market.

ChemLex’s launch in Singapore highlights its evolution from a rapidly growing deep-tech startup into a global force in AI-driven chemical discovery. The market it operates in is projected to surge from USD 3.6 billion in 2024 to almost USD 50 billion by 2034, reflecting its immense growth potential.

Founded in 2022, ChemLex has quickly expanded its reach serving more than 70 customers including six of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies. This rapid adoption reflects the growing demand for next-generation AI-driven research solutions.

At the center of ChemLex’s offering is an autonomous chemistry platform that replaces slow, step-by-step R&D methods with a continuous, AI-powered discovery system. Operating around the clock it uses real-time data and synthesis feedback to refine molecule designs, reducing development timelines from months to just days.

“AI-enabled chemistry is creating one of the most important industrial transitions of the decade, and ChemLex sits in that sweet spot, turning that shift into a business advantage with a platform that can accelerate molecule design and manufacturing at scale,

“This is the type of deeptech company that can reshape supply chains, shorten development timelines, and unlock new economic value, and Singapore gives them the foundation to grow,” said Yinghui Kuang, Partner at Granite Asia.

“We first met ChemLex in 2023, and since then we’ve seen the company grow from a promising startup to a global innovator in AI and automation-driven chemical synthesis,

“As ChemLex’s first Singapore partner, we are thrilled to expand our collaboration through the MOU. This partnership reinforces our shared vision of accelerating drug discovery and development through cutting-edge technology, ultimately bringing safer more effective therapies to patients faster,” said Prof. Damian O’Connell of the Experimental Drug Development Center.
