Taiwan-Based China Airlines has Partnered with Frankfurt Cargo Services

China Airlines has signed a multi-year cargo handling arrangement with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) subsidiary Frankfurt Cargo Services (FCS) that will extend their Frankfurt Airport collaboration to over 25 years.

China Airlines has signed a multi-year cargo handling arrangement with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) subsidiary Frankfurt Cargo Services (FCS) that will extend their Frankfurt Airport collaboration to over 25 years.

Taiwan-based China Airlines first used FCS for freight handling in 2000. Frankfurt-Taipei Boeing 777 flights carry 25,000 tons of cargo annually.

The new deal starts this month. It also strengthens China Airlines’ collaboration with WFS, which handles cargo in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, the UK, India, Thailand, and North America.

“Over two decades, we have established a strong collaboration and partnership with China Airlines and its team in Germany,” Claus Wagner, managing director of FCS. “We are proud of the reliable flight operations we jointly deliver and appreciative of the airline’s long-term commitment to FCS.

At Frankfurt Airport, the busiest cargo hub in Europe, FCS is the biggest airline-independent cargo handler. Approximately fifty international airline customers are served by FCS, which has a 48,000 square meter warehouse with direct access to the airport apron and processes 600,000 tons annually.

This includes increasing amounts of pharmaceutical shipments that are temperature-controlled in its specific Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and IATA CEIV Pharma certified facility.

In addition, FCS offers solutions for special handling, e-commerce handling, and the storage of sensitive cargo and shipments of dangerous goods, such as radioactive material.

Air China’s cargo handling agreements with WFS in France and the UK were extended by an additional three years last month.

“Our success in winning this most recent tender in a very competitive commercial environment is driven by our constant focus on providing high quality service levels and competitive advantages for China Airlines and its customers.”

Additionally, last week, WFS and Turkish Airlines announced a new three-year agreement for ramp handling services at Denver International Airport in Colorado, US.
