Cisco Announces Strategic Collaborations to boost AI Ecosystem in Malaysia

Cisco, enables people to make powerful connections--whether in business, education, philanthropy, or creativity has formalized three strategic collaborations including Telekom Malaysia (TM) and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) to drive artificial intelligence (AI)-led innovation and address the growing AI skills gap in Malaysia.

The company released a statement announcing its partnership with the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to organize an AI hackathon to close the skills gap in AI and give students practical experience with technology.

“The potential for AI to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and unlock new avenues for growth is immense. It offers Malaysia an unprecedented opportunity to strengthen our global competitiveness while ensuring inclusive development for all citizens, By embracing AI, we can tackle pressing challenges, modernize key sectors, and secure long-term prosperity,” said Fabian Bigar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital, Malaysia.

Additionally, Cisco inked two partnerships in Malaysia as part of its Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) initiative. The primary goal of the first partnership with TM will be to assist JDN in updating its digital infrastructure.

For JDN’s Putrajaya campus, TM will construct a safe, flexible network that will improve network performance, dependability, and capacity to accommodate bandwidth-demanding applications like artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Cisco will offer AI-powered collaboration solutions like Cisco Spaces and Webex Boards to promote safe and easy working environments for staff members.

“Cisco has a role to play in every step of the AI revolution. Our unique position to combine the power of the network with industry-leading security, observability, and data enables us to offer visibility and insight across customers’ entire digital footprint, What we have announced today with partners like TM and PNB demonstrates how our AI innovations can help businesses in Malaysia enhance their operations, improve customer experiences, and drive sustainable growth,” said Hana Raja, Managing Director for Cisco Malaysia.

Cisco will partner with PNB to provide AI-powered networking, the Internet of Things (IoT), collaboration, and security technologies to PNB’s innovation lab, network operations center, and open collaborative spaces when it moves to a new office.

PNB will be able to test and create sustainable workplace solutions thanks to the innovation lab, which includes Cisco’s Webex, Meraki devices, and ThousandEyes.

PNB will be better equipped to identify and fix issues that affect the user experience thanks to Cisco ThousandEyes’ AI-driven insight in the Network Operations Center.

Cisco Webex Boards will use AI-enhanced video, audio, and other features to promote inclusive work environments. PNB will also use Cisco Spaces to give workers workspaces.
