Covrzy Partners with Namma Yatri to Provide Health Insurance for Thousands of Drivers and Their Families

Bengaluru-based insurance-tech startup Covrzy has partnered with Namma Yatri, India’s top open-mobility platform and the country’s fastest-growing driver-focused transport network.

Through this partnership, Covrzy aims to make health insurance more affordable and accessible for Namma Yatri drivers and their families across India.

As part of the long-term plan, Covrzy will add its health insurance options directly into the Namma Yatri driver app. This will provide drivers with easy access to high-quality insurance plans from top Indian insurance companies.

Starting in Bengaluru in the next few months, this partnership shows Covrzy and Namma Yatri’s shared goal of supporting gig workers in India.

With this new feature in the Namma Yatri app, auto and cab drivers will be able to easily find, compare, and buy health insurance plans that fit their needs—all in one place.

The entire process is fully digital, so drivers don’t need to deal with much paperwork. They can get their insurance instantly and also use the app to check hospital networks, download their policy, track renewals, and make claims easily.

Covrzy and Namma Yatri will first launch this insurance program for over 3,000 drivers in Bengaluru in the coming months. Over the next 12 to 18 months, they plan to expand it to more than 50,000 drivers in other cities where Namma Yatri is active. The platform currently runs in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, and Kochi, with plans to expand to 10 or more tier 1 and tier 2 cities soon.

Ankit Kamra, Founder of Covrzy, said, “Millions of drivers form the backbone of India’s mobility ecosystem, yet it is unfortunate to note that most of them remain uninsured or underinsured as of today. Through our partnership with Namma Yatri, we aim to change this scenario for the better and bring affordable, quality health coverage to an integral part of the country’s gig workforce – the driver-captains. This partnership stands as a testament to our commitment to foster a hassle-free, frictionless, digital insurance journey for every Indian – including those who’re at the heart of the nation’s gig economy”.

Shan M S, Co-founder of Namma Yatri, added, “At Namma Yatri, we believe that building truly people-first mobility starts with empowering our driver-captains. This partnership with Covrzy reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting their well-being- by making health insurance simple, accessible and built around their real needs. With Covrzy’s embedded solutions, we can offer drivers and their families meaningful financial protection in a way that’s seamless and easy to access. It’s another step forward in creating an ecosystem that is fair, transparent, and truly driver-first.”

As part of this program, Namma Yatri drivers will have access to health insurance plans offering benefits such as hospital coverage of up to ₹3 lakhs, cashless treatment at over 10,000 hospitals, outpatient department (OPD) wellness support, and more. Covrzy and Namma Yatri are also working on adding family members—such as spouses and children—to shared family plans.

To help drivers understand and sign up for these plans, awareness drives will be conducted at auto stands; help desks will be set up with support from Namma Yatri volunteers, and guides, FAQs, and videos in regional languages will be included on the app.

Namma Yatri, created by Juspay (a fintech company backed by SoftBank), is the first ride-hailing app in India to join the government-supported Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). It has changed the way ride-booking works by using a zero-commission, subscription-based model instead of taking a cut from drivers’ earnings.

Covrzy is an insurance platform that makes it easy to offer simple, affordable, and flexible business insurance. It supports both personal and business insurance plans and can be easily added to any digital app or system.
