CrisprBits Secures $3M Funding Led by Spectrum Impact

CrisprBits Pvt Ltd, a biotech startup, has raised $3 million in its Pre-Series A funding round, bringing the company’s value to $12 million.

The funding came from its founders, angel investors, and family offices. One of the key investors was Spectrum Impact, the family office of Rajendra Gogri, Chairman and Managing Director of Aarti Industries. Existing investors like the Vijay Alreja Family Office (VJ Technologies Group) also joined the round. New investors from the promoter family of HBL Engineering participated as well.

CrisprBits will use this new funding to expand the commercial launch of its PathCrisp diagnostic platform. It also plans to increase the production of tests that support human health, food safety, and animal health.

The company is also developing a CRISPR-based strain engineering platform. Its first goal with this technology is to improve the process of producing biofuels.

CEO Vijay Chandru emphasised the company’s mission-driven approach: “This funding round provides the fuel for our mission to Rewrite Biology and Reimagine the Planet. We are now positioned to launch in India and scale globally with high-quality, affordable solutions.”

Mirik Gogri of Spectrum Impact added: “CrisprBits is poised to create multidimensional impact—from diagnostics to biochemicals and biofuels. Their strategy converts powerful technology into immense commercial and societal value.”

Founded by Vijay Chandru, Sunil Arora, Rajeev Kohli, Bharat Jobanputra, and Aditya Sarda, CrisprBits operates a 7,300 sq ft CRISPR research and prototype facility in Bengaluru.

The company has three main platforms: PathCrisp for diagnostics, EdiCrisp for gene editing and strain engineering, and CurieCrisp for developing preclinical and rare disease therapies.

In the next six months, CrisprBits plans to expand its CRISPR diagnostic products to global markets, including Africa and Latin America. The company will also strengthen its operations by expanding infrastructure and production at its diagnostics facility.

Additionally, CrisprBits aims to develop an AI-supported strain engineering platform to support sustainability-focused applications.
