Dazl, an AI platform that helps people build ready-to-use applications, announced on Monday that it has raised $10 million in seed funding and officially launched out of stealth mode.
The funding round was led by 40RTY Fund, with support from website builder Wix and its co-founder Nadav Abrahami.
The company is being led by Assaf Sagy, former global head of gaming at TikTok, who will serve as CEO and co-founder alongside Abrahami. About 30 former Wix employees are also joining Dazl in important roles.
Dazl wants to fix the problems with today’s AI app-building tools. Most of these tools only create rough prototypes that aren’t ready for real-world use.
To solve this, Dazl’s technology focuses on understanding prompts more accurately and keeping the context throughout the process. This helps reduce the constant trial-and-error that developers face with other tools.
“Generative AI can produce prototypes, but it doesn’t yet empower creators to build apps that reflect their vision,” said Abrahami, who co-founded Wix in 2006. “Our goal is to unlock that next level — so app creation can be just as expressive as web design became with Wix.”
The company is focused on helping entrepreneurs, marketers, and designers build apps without needing to hire developers. While many AI app tools are popular with these users, Dazl says they often fall short in terms of design and functionality.
Roy Saar, general partner at 40RTY Fund and an early investor in Wix, said the strong experience of Dazl’s founding team was a major reason for backing the startup.
“Having played a key role in building one of the most impactful platforms of the digital age, Nadav’s legacy with Wix is invaluable,” Saar said. “Alongside Assaf, a seasoned leader in product innovation, this duo is poised to solve one of the most pressing issues in today’s product development.”
Sagy, who led gaming projects at TikTok, compared the changes happening in software development tools to the way media has evolved.
“Every major shift in media has come when creators gained access to better tools — from mobile photo editing to short-form video to social creation,” Sagy said. “With Dazl, we’re bringing that same leap to product making.”
Dazl’s technology is built to turn creative ideas into fully working software, helping users make apps that are truly “production-ready” instead of just simple prototypes.
With dozens of former Wix engineers on its team, the company aims to simplify the creation of high-quality AI-powered apps for a wide range of users.
