EDGNEX by DAMAC to Build $2.3 Billion AI Data Center in Jakarta

EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC, a global tech infrastructure company backed by the Dubai-based DAMAC Group, has announced plans to build a new, advanced AI-powered data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. This will be their second data center in the country.

The project is set to be one of the biggest AI-focused data centers in Southeast Asia, with a planned capacity of 144 megawatts and an investment of $2.3 billion.

After buying the land in March 2025, DAMAC started early construction. The first phase of the center is expected to be ready by December 2026.

The Jakarta data center will feature high-performance AI systems, aiming to set new standards for digital infrastructure in the region.

This new data center will play a key role in helping Indonesia shift from traditional systems to a strong, AI-powered digital economy.

Although Indonesia is a fast-growing market in Southeast Asia, it still has gaps in digital infrastructure, isn’t fully ready for large-scale tech systems, and faces slow data speeds in some areas.

As more industries in the country start using AI, this project aims to meet the rising need for powerful, energy-efficient digital infrastructure.

“This is our second project in Indonesia, and this development reinforces our commitment to bridging the digital divide in fast-growing markets across Southeast Asia (SEA), such as Indonesia,

“We are proud to build what will become one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced, sustainable data centers to power the next wave of innovation and digital growth,” said Hussain Sajwani, Founder of DAMAC Group.

He said that the large amount of work needed for AI requires a completely new kind of infrastructure.

He added that this project is part of their larger plan in Southeast Asia, where they’ve already invested over $3 billion in digital infrastructure.

The new data center aims to use energy very efficiently, with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) target of 1.32. This means it will save a lot of energy and meet EDGNEX’s global green standards.

This second data center in Jakarta adds to EDGNEX’s growing work in countries like Thailand, Malaysia, and other parts of Southeast Asia.

In 2024, EDGNEX announced its first data centre in Indonesia, a smaller one with a 19.2 MW capacity, located in MT Haryono, Jakarta.

This area is one of the most connected data center hubs in Jakarta.

The data center will help meet the rising demand for cloud services, local data processing, and AI technology.

The first part of this project should be finished by the third quarter of 2026.

EDGNEX plans to have over 300 MW of data center capacity running across Southeast Asia by 2026.
