Eeki secures $7 million from Sixth Sense Ventures

Kota-based agritech company Eeki has raised $7 million from Sixth Sense Ventures.

The money will help Eeki grow its farm operations across India using aeroponic technology, improve research and development, and use more of its advanced Gen 3 Growing Chambers.

In 2022, Eeki raised $6.5 million in a Series A round led by General Catalyst. A few months before that, it also got $2 million from Avaana Capital and other investors.

Abhay Singh, CEO & Co-Founder of Eeki said, “This funding marks a pivotal moment in our journey toward scaling climate-resilient farming across India and abroad. Our aim is to build a future-ready food system that can thrive irrespective of environmental challenges. Nikhil and Kathan’s appreciation for in-house hardware & tech and long-term value creation makes them the ideal partners for us. The introduction of aeroponics in our Gen 3 chambers represents a paradigm shift in precision agriculture, allowing us to grow clean, nutritious vegetables consistently, independent of seasons and soil.”

“30% of our team is focused on improving core tech to maximise yield with minimal resources,” said cofounder Amit Kumar. “This raise helps us perfect more crops across zones. With Sixth Sense’s consumer expertise, we aim to build Eeki’s positioning as a leader in nutrition and origin,” Kumar said.

“Sustainable agriculture is critical to future food security. Eeki’s breakthrough model has proven itself in India’s toughest conditions, with superior cost efficiency and potential for global scalability. Backed by sharp execution and R&D, Abhay and Amit are building what could be the world’s most efficient farming company. We’re thrilled to partner with these brilliant scientists-turned-farmers on this journey,” said Nikhil Vora, Founder and CEO of Sixth Sense Ventures.

Eeki was started in 2018 by Abhay Singh and Amit Kumar. The company is creating a food production system that can grow on a large scale and is good for the environment.

They use special climate-controlled aeroponic chambers that they have patented. This unique way of farming can grow pesticide-free vegetables all year, even on land that is dry or not suitable for agriculture.

In this method, plant roots hang in the air and get sprayed with a nutrient-rich mist. It uses up to 95% less water than regular farming. This way, Eeki can control the growing conditions exactly, which helps produce more crops of good quality while keeping costs similar to traditional agriculture.

The startup grows vegetables that are more nutritious while also solving problems like soil damage and water shortage. Their farms can be built in places with poor soil, which helps protect good farmland. This also makes sure fresh, local vegetables are available all year round.
