Egypt’s Wuilt Raises $2 Million to Grow Its E-Commerce Platform

Egyptian e-commerce company Wuilt has raised $2 million to help grow its business in the region and continue its goal of making it easy for individuals and businesses to start selling online.

The funding round included well-known investors such as Flat6Labs, MTF VC, Hub71, the JIMCO Fund (the investment arm of Abdul Latif Jameel), Purity Tech, and several angel investors.

Earlier, in January 2022, the company had raised $535,000 in a seed funding round.

In April 2025, Wuilt made a major change to its business model by offering its main service completely free in Egypt. It removed all traditional subscription fees.

This move attracted over 20,000 merchants within a few months, allowing them to build online stores, manage their products, and connect with local shipping and payment services — all without paying any subscription costs.

Wuilt’s new model provides basic e-commerce services for free, while earning revenue from extra services like Wuilt Shipments, Wuilt Pay, and Wuilt Wallet.

Wuilt plans to roll out its free service in the UAE in the fourth quarter of 2025. After that, it aims to expand into other Gulf countries and Turkey in early 2026.

The company is also working on launching new AI-powered features. These tools are designed to help merchants manage their daily operations more easily, reduce complexity, and improve overall efficiency.

Wuilt was founded in 2019 by Ahmed Rostom and Mahmoud Metwaly. The company has a team based in Cairo and Abu Dhabi, working on local solutions to help grow e-commerce in the region.
