
Electric bicycle startup EMotorad has appointed former India CEO Himanshu Ratnoo as a cofounder.
His appointment comes as EMotorad plans to strengthen its leadership team, expand its business globally, and enter new mobility segments.
Ratnoo, who studied at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, joined EMotorad two months after leaving CARS24, where he was leading the company’s India used-car business ahead of its planned IPO.
Commenting on the appointment, Rajib Gangopadhyay, cofounder of, said that Himanshu Ratnoo’s experience in building and growing consumer businesses will help the company in its next phase of growth.
EMotorad cofounder and CEO Kunal Gupta said the company wants to build a global electric mobility brand from India. He added that EMotorad continues to lead the electric cycle market in India and is also seeing strong demand from international markets.
Ratnoo said that EMotorad’s Europe business has grown five times in recent months, although he did not reveal exact numbers. He also said the company’s export business is attracting interest from strategic partners.
Founded in 2020 by Gupta, Gangopadhyay, Aditya Oza and Sumedh Battewar, EMotorad sells different types of electric cycles, including commuter bikes, bicycles for kids, and leisure bikes.
The company has a network of more than 800 dealerships and operates in over 18 countries.
