As more businesses quickly start using generative AI, there’s also a growing challenge: how to manage and protect the huge amount of content moving through their internal systems, outside platforms, and customer channels.
To tackle this problem, Bonfy.AI, a startup from Tel Aviv, has come out of stealth mode. They recently raised $9.5 million in Seed funding led by TLV Partners, with support from Haim Saban’s Saban Capital Group.
Unlike old Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools that often confuse security teams with too many false alarms and miss important threats, Bonfy’s platform—called Bonfy Adaptive Content Security (Bonfy ACS)—works smarter. It understands the business rules and how people behave to spot and fix risks in content made by both humans and AI.
These risks include leaking important secret information, breaking laws, and sending messages that could harm customer trust.
Bonfy was started in early 2024 by two experienced cybersecurity experts, Gidi Cohen and Danny Kibel. They believe that current security tools are not good enough for the new world of AI.
Gidi Cohen, the CEO, used to run Skybox Security, a company whose technology was used by over 500 big global companies and was sold for $375 million in 2018. Danny Kibel, the CTO, was the CEO of Idaptive, a company that CyberArk bought. At CyberArk, he helped grow the business to over 2,000 customers and led global research and development.
“As the volume of content generated by GenAI grows exponentially, the need for robust and comprehensive oversight is critical. Without it, companies face significant risks that can be detrimental to their business,” said Gidi Cohen, CEO and Co-Founder of Bonfy. “With Bonfy ACS, we will transform content security for both AI and human-generated content, enabling organizations to take full advantage of AI tools while ensuring their content is secure, compliant, and trustworthy.
Bonfy mainly focuses on industries that have strict rules and care a lot about security, like healthcare, finance, insurance, law, and media. These industries need to follow important laws but also want to use AI to improve their work.
Bonfy helps by checking outgoing emails and attachments, protecting content created in software like Microsoft 365, and making sure AI tools are used safely and follow the rules.
