Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL), the parent company of Reliance Retail, has appointed former Flipkart chief product and technology officer Jeyandran Venugopal as its new president and CEO.
At Flipkart, Venugopal was responsible for leading product and technology. He helped the company grow, increase customer engagement, expand its platform, and strengthen its position in the market.
He has also worked at Amazon Web Services and Yahoo in the past.
In a note to employees, RRVL executive director Isha Ambani said that Jeyandran Venugopal will work closely with her and the Reliance Retail leadership team, under the overall guidance of Mukesh Ambani and Manoj Modi.
He will focus on strengthening the company’s retail portfolio and driving faster omnichannel growth.
Venugopal will also take charge of improving operational efficiency and enhancing technology across the entire value chain.
He holds dual master’s degrees in computer science and mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois.
Reliance Retail has been expanding its leadership team, and recently hired Guillaume de Colonges, who previously worked with French retailer Carrefour.
