Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, a part of the Taiwanese company Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), has agreed with the Japanese car maker Mitsubishi Motors. They will work together to develop and supply an electric vehicle (EV) model, which Mitsubishi Motors will sell under its own brand.
Foxconn announced on Wednesday that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mitsubishi Motors for their partnership.
Foxtron will handle the design and manufacturing management for the electric vehicle, which is expected to be available in the Australian and New Zealand markets in the second half of 2026.
Mitsubishi Motors said that Foxtron’s electric vehicle solution, which offers great driving performance and an advanced infotainment system, is a perfect fit for the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Foxtron said that, following Foxconn Chairman Young Liu’s vision of “Share, Collaborate, and Thrive,” the company plans to speed up electric vehicle development by improving platform designs and using modular components.
“We are delighted to develop and supply an electric vehicle (EV) to Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and look forward to a collaboration that will complement both parties and drive both business expansions,” Foxtron said.
Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, founded in 2020, is based in Taiwan. It has the ability to design, develop, and validate entire vehicles and their systems.
Foxtron uses decades of experience from Foxconn and Yulon Group in the ICT and automotive industries. The company follows a contract design and manufacturing service (CDMS) business model.
Foxtron follows an open platform strategy, aiming to collaborate with Taiwan’s ICT and automotive industries to expand globally and build the next generation of electric vehicle ecosystems.
