Fragaria Fruits Secures $2 Million Seed Funding to Boost Production

Agritech startup Fragaria Fruits has raised $2 million (INR 17.66 crore) in seed funding led by WEH Ventures.

Other investors in the round include Rainmatter, Spiral Ventures, and Sashi Kumar, the founder and CEO of Akshayakalpa Organic.

The startup said it will use the new funds to increase its production in Bengaluru, boosting output from 2–3 kg a day to 120–150 kg. It also plans to add new fruits like blueberries and raspberries to its product range.

The funding will also help Fragaria Fruits offer a consistent, year-round supply of fresh and sustainable fruits to customers across India.

Fragaria Fruits was founded in 2024 by Harish Varadharajan, Timothy Chad Van Niekerk, and Damian López-Salazar. The Chennai-based startup focuses on solving a major problem in India’s fruit market: the lack of fresh, high-quality fruit throughout the year.

The company aims to improve the fruit-eating experience by providing premium, sustainably grown produce. They use modern farming techniques to ensure better quality and consistency for consumers.

Fragaria Fruits’ main brand, Oh! Fruits, offers European-style strawberries grown in Chennai using advanced vertical farming techniques. These strawberries are twice as sweet as regular Indian ones, pesticide-free, and stay fresh up to three times longer.

The company also emphasizes sustainability by recycling water, using solar energy, and minimizing the environmental impact of farming, all while keeping their fruits affordable for consumers.

Fragaria Fruits uses Controlled Environmental Agriculture (CEA) and vertical farming to grow premium strawberries all year round. This approach creates a scalable and efficient model for consistent high-quality production.

The startup plans to expand its production in Bengaluru, increasing daily output from 2–3 kg to 120–150 kg to meet growing demand.
