Deep tech startup Frinks AI has raised $5.4 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The round was led by Prime Venture Partners, with support from Chiratae Ventures, Navam Capital, and Ashok Atluri, the founder of Zen Technologies. With this, the company has now raised a total of $6.25 million.
The company will use the new funding to grow its AI platform around the world, increase research and development, and expand its presence in the US.
“With ongoing supply chain disruptions and rising global trade tensions, we’re seeing a strong push toward localised manufacturing as countries prioritise internal consumption. Frinks AI is at the forefront of this transformation, helping manufacturers worldwide become more competitive, resilient, and future-ready,” said Aditya Agrawal, CEO and Co-founder of Frinks AI, in a statement.
IIT Hyderabad started Frinks AI graduates Aditya Agrawal, Dharmgya Sharma, and Subhra S. Bhattacherjee. The company is building advanced Vision AI technology to help manufacturers improve and automate quality checks on their production lines.
The company focuses on creating powerful vision AI models that are specially designed to check and ensure product quality in factories.
The startup said many manufacturers are already using its Vision AI platform in industries like automotive, consumer goods, building materials, and medical devices.
Looking ahead, the company plans to team up with automation companies and equipment makers (OEMs) to bring its products to more customers. Its vision AI models are designed to solve common problems in factory machine vision, like making sure the system works well and can handle different tasks.
“Visual inspection in manufacturing has been around for 50 years, but owing to a rule-based approach, its applicability has been limited to <15% of scenarios typical on the assembly line. Frinks has leveraged advancements in image processing, AI compute to develop manufacturing-specific machine vision models,” said Brij Bhushan, Partner at Prime VP.
“By combining foundational models with in-house fine-tuning using a small set of images, Frinks is able to guarantee 99.99% accuracy to its customers. It is our pleasure to partner with Aditya, Dharmagya, and Subhra in expanding this 10x product to India as well as taking it global,” he added.
Several experienced industry leaders support Frinks AI. These include S Ramadorai (former MD and CEO of TCS), V Sumantran (former Executive Director at Tata Motors), Tarun Ramadorai (Professor at Imperial College London), and Gopichand Katragadda (former Group CTO of Tata Sons). They continue to help the company as strategic investors and advisors.
