Harajuku Tokyo Café raises $2 million in seed round

Harajuku Tokyo Café, a Japanese casual dining and QSR chain, has raised $2 million (INR 19 crore) in a seed funding round co-led by Indian Angel Network (IAN).

The round also included investments from LetsVenture and venture debt fund Capitar Ventures.

The money will be used to expand quickly, improve operations, and open outlets in new cities.

This follows the café’s Mumbai launch at Jio World Drive, BKC, in July 2025, where both Harajuku Tokyo Café and Harajuku Bakehouse got a great response from customers.

Harajuku Tokyo Café, started in 2021 by Gaurav Kanwar, operates in two formats — a full-service café and a quick-service Bakehouse. A central kitchen in Delhi NCR supports both to ensure consistent taste and quick service.

Harajuku Tokyo Café currently operates seven outlets in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, generating over INR 30 crore in yearly recurring revenue.

The brand now plans to scale up to 90 outlets across 20 cities and grow its revenue to over INR 200 crore by 2027. New outlets are already being planned in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh.

Harajuku is also stepping into the packaged food market with its D2C brand KoiKoi Essentials, which sells ramen kits, sauces, and frozen meals.
