Hartamodal, the venture capital arm of Tradeview Capital, has invested in NEUON AI Sdn Bhd, an AI solutions company based in Sarawak. The company has successfully launched advanced AI technologies across several high-impact sectors.

NEUON AI was founded by three Sarawakian technologists with strong academic backgrounds in AI research: Dr Chai Kok Chin, Marcus Chai Koh Kiong, and Dr Chang Yang Loong.

Its main product, ROADPLUS, is a computer vision-based road asset management platform. It won the “Best Commercialisation Project” award at MYHackathon 2020, organised by Cradle Fund under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). The platform also received international recognition at the World Summit Award 2025 for digital innovation. ROADPLUS is currently used by government agencies such as Jabatan Kerja Raya Sarawak (JKRS).

NEUON AI has also signed an agreement with Runjian Co Ltd, a company listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, to explore automated harvesting for black pepper crops and satellite navigation systems for oil palm plantations. As a graduate of the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation’s Digital Village Accelerator (DiVA) programme, the company has received seed funding and has completed projects with agencies such as Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and the National Sports Institute (ISN).

“KC (Kok Chin) and the team excel at translating high sophisticated academic AI research into real world, high impact solutions for the everyday economy at scale. Their proprietary technology applications in road asset management, forestry preservation and sports science clearly demonstrate this capability. Credit must be given to our industry adviser, associate professor Dr Miko Chang, the head of
school for ICT in Swinburne University Sarawak, for the investment in this enterprising startup,” said Tan Cheng Wen, executive director of Hartamodal.

“Securing institutional venture capital backing from Hartamodal represents a pivotal milestone in NEUON AI’s growth trajectory. By partnering with Hartamodal, whose expertise and long-term fundamental investment approach align closely with our mission, we are accelerating the delivery of home-grown, world-class AI solutions that will redefine Malaysia’s most critical sectors,” said Kok Chin, co-founder and CEO of NEUON AI.

The investment in NEUON AI was made through Hartamodal’s first fund, the RM70 million Dana Impian. So far, the firm has invested RM15 million in three technology startups.

One of the main goals of the fund is to speed up the commercial use and adoption of AI solutions across the country. It aims to support the use of advanced technologies in important sectors and encourage the wider use of practical, ready-to-use innovations.
