Manila-based cleantech startup Humble Sustainability helps B2B clients sell their electronics instead of throwing them away.

Solid garbage in the Philippines reaches 61,000 metric tonnes daily. This figure is decreasing due to government initiatives and business sector acceptance of a circular economy.

The company raised money from Gobi Partners’ Gobi-Core Philippine Fund. Unknown funds was provided. Double River Impact, Equitrust Holdings, the Philippines’ National Development Company, and XA Network investors joined the round.

“I was born and raised in the Philippines, where my childhood experiences of thrifting filled me with joy and instilled an early awareness of the value of repurposed items,” co-founder and COO Nina Mirabueno Opida said in a statement.

Humble Sustainability sells smartphones, laptops, and appliances, unlike most thrift stores in the country, which sell clothes and shoes. These products range from like-new to nice but unboxed.

Over 250,000 kilogrammes of electronic garbage have been diverted from landfills by the startup’s corporate partnerships. The company supports over 75 clients, including Canva, Manulife, and Sunlife.

Humble Sustainability targets regional expansion and provides reports and research to help customers meet their ESG goals.

The startup, which raised a seed round from Seedstars International Ventures in 2022, wants to recycle 1 billion things.
