IdeaSpace, a startup accelerator in the Philippines and part of the MVP Group of Companies, announced on Monday that Alwyn Rosel, a veteran in the startup ecosystem, has been appointed as the new Executive Director of IdeaSpace and QBO Innovation, replacing Jay Fajardo.

It said in a statement that Rosel has 13 years of industry experience and has worked at QBO Innovation for the last four years as Deputy Director. She has also held senior roles at AIM-Dado Banatao Incubator, UPSCALE Innovation Hub, and VXI Global.

Rosel said, “The cornerstone of my work is to sustain the ecosystem so that we help more startups that have immense potential to contribute to the economy and national development,”.

IdeaSpace and QBO Innovation President, Rene Butch Meily, expressed confidence that Rosel has the dedication and vision needed for the role, as she has been part of the QBO and IdeaSpace teams for four years.

Earl Valencia, Co-founder of IdeaSpace and a member of the National Innovation Council, said Rosel has spent her career supporting early-stage startups and has played a key role in creating programs to boost the innovation ecosystem in the Philippines.

The statement also mentioned that Rosel will replace Jay Fajardo, who helped improve the structure and strategy of IdeaSpace and QBO clearly defining their roles for stakeholders and the wider startup community.

Under Fajardo’s leadership, it was established, strengthening the organization’s role as a committed early-stage investor.

In 2024, it supported seven startups and achieved an average return of 1.5 times on invested capital over four years.

He also helped position QBO Innovation as a top startup community builder, expanding its influential programs across government, education, international development agencies, and private businesses.

It is the leading startup enabler in the Philippines and runs IdeaSpace Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on investing in early-stage Filipino tech startups.

Founded in 2012 by Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, IdeaSpace aims to support Filipino tech entrepreneurs. It is backed by companies like First Pacific, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), PLDT-Smart, Meralco, and Maynilad, along with other public and private organizations.
