Cybersecurity company imper.ai, which makes a platform to prevent real-time cyber impersonation, has raised around $22 million in a Series A funding round.

The round was led by Redpoint Ventures and Battery Ventures, with participation from Maple VC, Vessy VC, and Cerca Partners. Six months earlier, imper.ai had raised about $6.5 million in a Seed round.

The company’s platform checks for impersonation risks in real time across popular communication tools like Zoom, Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, and Google Workspace.

It does this by analyzing multiple security signals from network devices and digital identities, rather than just scanning the content of messages.

The startup was founded during reserve service in the war, when the three founders—Noam Awadish, Anatoly Blighovsky, and Rom Dudkiewicz—noticed a major gap in protecting real-time communications.

Shortly after, in 2024, they officially started the company.

Noam Awadish, the CEO, previously served as Chief of Staff to the EVP of Autonomous Vehicles at Mobileye and had a long tenure in Unit 8200.

Anatoly Blighovsky, the CPO, was formerly head of two cyber divisions and CISO of Unit 8200, while Rom Dudkiewicz, the CTO, worked as a vulnerability researcher and section leader at Unit 8200.

“AI-driven impersonation has become one of the biggest drivers of financial loss and reputational risk for enterprises,” said Awadish. “Gartner expects that by 2027, half of all enterprises will invest in anti-deepfake and disinformation-security tools, a clear sign this is no longer a niche issue. We built imper.ai to help CISOs strengthen their defenses and focus on prevention instead of crisis response.”
