Steve Saerang, SVP-Head of Corporate Communications Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, stated, “We believe that inclusive digital transformation requires not only reliable technology but also the active involvement of youth and women as drivers of change. By expanding digital literacy across all levels of the society, we hope to help reduce the digital divide, open up new economic opportunities, and support Indonesia’s growth as a global digital economic powerhouse.”
The GenSi program in Sorong carries the theme “Saatnya GenSi Beraksi”, involving 600 digital talents from Sorong and surrounding regions. In addition to focusing on AI Sovereignty, this program also introduces a digital literacy training model to members of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In collaboration with the Digital Transformation Center (DTC), the program features experts from the various sectors, including government, industry, and innovators, and engages university students to enhance their fundamental knowledge and practical skills in cybersecurity, with a special emphasis on youth and women.
By extending digital literacy to Indonesia’s remote areas, Indosat remains committed to reducing the digital divide and empowering these communities to contribute to the nation’s economy. Digital talent is considered the pillar of Indonesia’s future, with 25.87% of the population, or approximately 69,74 million people in 2023.
Mediodecci Lustarini, Secretary of the Directorate General of Public Communication and Media, Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) of the Republic of Indonesia, added, “This program is a tangible proof of collaboration between the government and the private sector in enhancing digital literacy across Indonesia. Through empowering local communities, it will open digital access for young talents, women, and MSMEs in the region. Together with Indosat, we are optimistic that initiatives like this will create sustainable impacts for Indonesia’s development in the era of digital transformation.”
