Japan-based Bitcoin investment firm Metaplanet has appointed Eric Trump, son of US President Donald Trump as a strategic advisor to help Metaplanet become a leader in the bitcoin economy.

This move is part of it’s plan to build a board of influential figures who will promote bitcoin adoption globally.

It currently holds 3,050 Bitcoin, valued at about $4.1 billion, making it the 12th largest corporate Bitcoin holder. The firm aims to accumulate at least 10,000 Bitcoin by the end of 2025. So far in 2025, it has purchased 1,288 Bitcoin, which is a faster pace than in 2024, but still not enough to meet its target.

”His business acumen, love of the Bitcoin community and global hospitality perspective will be invaluable in accelerating Metaplanet’s vision of becoming one of the world’s leading Bitcoin Treasury Companies,” Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich said in a March 21 announcement on X.

”As a globally recognized business leader and entrepreneur, Eric Trump brings a wealth of experience in real estate, finance, brand development, and strategic business growth and has become a leading voice and advocate of digital asset adoption worldwide,” Metaplanet added.

Since its first Bitcoin purchase in April 2024, it has been using various financial tools to grow its Bitcoin reserves.

Eric Trump has also contributed to the Trump family’s World Liberty Financial crypto platform, which raised $550 million through its second token sale in March 2025. The platform holds $80.8 million in crypto assets, according to Arkham Intelligence.
