Jio Financial Services Appoints Venkata Peri as Group COO

Jio Financial Services has appointed Venkata Narasimham Peri as its new Group Chief Operating Officer, strengthening its leadership as the company grows its financial services and technology-led offerings.

The board approved his appointment on 17 December and he will take charge from 22 December. The role had been vacant for several months following a leadership reshuffle earlier this year.

Peri has been with Jio Financial since October 2024 as a senior executive advisor. During this time, he worked closely with the CEO, CTO, and analytics teams to plan and roll out AI and analytics capabilities across the company.

Venkata Narasimham Peri has over 25 years of experience across finance, technology, and advisory roles. Before joining Jio Financial he founded and led the US-based health tech company CognitiveCare for six years and also served as Chief AI Officer at the L V Prasad Eye Institute.

Earlier in his career, Peri held senior leadership roles at IBM, Deloitte, and PwC, where he advised boards and top management on finance, risk, technology, and analytics, mainly in the banking and insurance sectors.

Peri holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and an MCA from NIT Rourkela. He has also contributed to academic and governance roles at various Indian institutions.

The Group COO position was earlier held by Charanjit Singh Attra, former CFO of State Bank of India, who moved to lead Jio Leasing Services in July 2024 before leaving later that year for EY. Since then operational responsibilities were handled by MD & CEO Hitesh Sethia and CFO Abhishek Pathak.
