Keppel Teams Up with AIIB to Boost $1.5B Sustainable Infrastructure Drive in APAC

Singapore-based Keppel Ltd., through its investment and fund management platforms, has signed a strategic partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

This partnership aims to support and raise $1.5 billion for sustainable infrastructure projects and financing opportunities across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Keppel said on Wednesday that the partnership with AIIB will focus on funding infrastructure projects that Keppel develops and its private funds invest in. These projects will support green infrastructure, better connectivity, and tech-driven infrastructure.

The partnership will look at projects in areas like renewable energy, power transmission, digital infrastructure, transport, and urban services.

Keppel will bring its strong experience in building large, sustainable infrastructure, while AIIB will help by providing long-term funding, either through loans or investments.

The partnership will support projects in developing countries across the Asia-Pacific region and will run for an initial five-year period, ending in December 2030, matching the AIIB 2021–2030 strategy.

This collaboration will also act as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices and help strengthen the working relationship between Keppel and AIIB.

Despite increasing investments in green infrastructure and connectivity, a significant infrastructure gap persists across APAC driven by the urgent demands of a growing and rapidly urbanizing population,

“We are pleased to build on our longstanding relationship with AIIB, a valued partner who has invested with Keppel across multiple fund strategies and asset classes, to address the burgeoning needs,” said Christina Tan, Chief Executive Officer, Fund Management and Chief Investment Officer, Keppel.

She said that by bringing together AIIB’s financial strength and Keppel’s strong experience in building and managing large infrastructure projects, this partnership will help speed up the Asia-Pacific region’s move toward a more sustainable future.

Meanwhile, Rajat Misra, Acting Chief Investment Officer at AIIB, said that Keppel is a trusted partner with a proven track record in the infrastructure sector.

“This agreement reflects AIIB’s continued commitment to partnering with leading institutions to finance infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and regionally connected,

“We look forward to expanding our collaboration to support resilient and forward-looking infrastructure across Asia-Pacific,” he added.

According to the statement, this new partnership is not expected to significantly affect Keppel’s earnings or assets per share for the current financial year.

Keppel is a global company based in Singapore, known for its strong focus on sustainability. It works in areas like infrastructure, real estate, and connectivity and operates in over 20 countries.

The company provides important services for things like renewable energy, clean power, reducing carbon emissions, urban renewal, and digital connectivity.

Keppel also creates value for its investors and partners through its investment platforms and a wide range of assets, including private funds and publicly listed real estate and business trusts.
