LG CNS to Build First Overseas AI Data Center in Jakarta with $75 Million Investment

LG CNS to Build First Overseas AI Data Center in Jakarta

Jakarta is in a landmark move, LG CNS is set to become the first Korean company to build an AI data center overseas, with plans to construct a state-of-the-art facility in Jakarta, Indonesia. The $75 million (approximately 100 billion won) project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

The company, through its joint venture LG SinarMas Technology Solutions with Indonesia’s Sinar Mas Group, has signed an agreement with Kuningan Mas Gemilang (KMG) to build the hyperscale AI data center.

Planned as an 11-story structure, the new facility will have the capacity to host over 100,000 servers and will start with a 30-megawatt power supply, making it one of the most powerful AI-focused infrastructures in the region. Future expansion by KMG is expected to boost the total power supply to 220 megawatts, positioning it as Indonesia’s largest AI data center.

KMG itself is a joint venture between Sinar Mas Group and Korea Investment Real Asset Management. Created to drive the development of high-performance data centers in Indonesia. The initiative aligns with the group’s strategic push into data and cloud services as key growth sectors.

Having secured a consulting and development contract with KMG last year, LG CNS has now been entrusted with the entire infrastructure development — encompassing cooling, power, and telecommunications systems for the data center.

“We will build a cutting-edge AI data center that enhances customer value by bringing together LG CNS’ capabilities and expertise on data centers,” said Hyun Shin-gyoon, CEO of LG CNS.

“Leveraging this project, we aim to expand our AI data center business in Southeast Asia — including Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia — and globally.”

The project will integrate LG’s best in class technologies: LG CNS’s deep experience in data center design and operation, LG Electronics’ advanced cooling solutions, and LG Energy Solution’s battery systems.

This marks a significant step in LG CNS’s global expansion strategy and signals Indonesia’s growing importance as a digital and AI hub in Southeast Asia.
