Malaysia-Based Maxis has Partnered with Singtel

Built on Singtel’s Paragon for telco networks, Malaysia’s first all-in-one platform for 5G network, edge computing, cloud, and services orchestration has been introduced by Malaysian telecoms company Maxis in collaboration with Singapore telecoms (Singtel).

According to a statement released by the two, the platform will accelerate digital transformation across a range of verticals including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and public services. It will also make 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and 5G technology, edge, and multi-cloud computing more accessible to Malaysian businesses.

The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) of Malaysia arranged the Malaysia Commercialization Year (MCY) Summit 2024, which served as the catalyst for the partnership’s formalization and advancement of the country’s commercialization ecosystem.

The platform, which will be made accessible in Malaysia through Maxis Business, the company’s enterprise division, will allow for “on-demand” edge computing capabilities, giving users access to storage, GPU as a service (GPUaaS), and low-latency computing.

Its multi-access edge computing (MEC) features allow data processing at the edge from devices and end users. This allows for intelligent decision-making and real-time processing when paired with artificial intelligence (AI).

It is mentioned that Paragon provides a strong marketplace to partners and clients of Maxis, which enables businesses to quickly and easily build on-demand network slices and implement mission-critical 5G applications on MEC.

“Our collaboration addresses customer needs by providing a unified 5G platform that simplifies orchestration across network and cloud environments, The platform enables greater access, speed and flexibility for businesses to deploy and manage 5G and cloud computing solutions seamlessly,” said Goh Seow Eng, Chief Executive Officer of Maxis. This will help them to focus on their core business, further strengthening their competitiveness globally, As the country’s leading integrated telco, we look forward to accelerating 5G-A and 5G adoption and the digitalization of Malaysian businesses as the preferred digital business partner,” he added.

The statement claims that the platform’s capabilities may help companies with a variety of enterprise applications, including real-time analytics, mixed reality, and autonomous systems, that demand high-speed data processing across many verticals.

To meet the cybersecurity and data sovereignty needs of Malaysian enterprises, the platform will be hosted and deployed domestically in Malaysia.

It should be mentioned that systems developed and supported by Paragon have now been effectively implemented in four ASEAN markets.

Multinational corporations will find it easier to operate in the region with a shared experience and unified architecture thanks to Maxis’ exclusive offering of the capacity to Malaysia.

According to the statement, the deployment is appropriate given Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN chairmanship, during which it would take a more active role in guiding the goals of the regional bloc in terms of digitalization and economic development.

Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer of Singtel Digital InfraCo, said they have seen a strong shift in demand from enterprises for 5G and edge computing capabilities to accelerate their digital transformation. Singtel has been leading the charge, forging various strategic partnerships with telcos globally with Paragon, being instrumental in this adoption,Paragon enables faster monetisation of 5G infrastructure by reducing complexities for telcos to deliver and scale 5G use cases. We are pleased to partner with Maxis to mutually expand and deepen the service opportunities of 5G and edge monetization in Malaysia,” he added.

It further emphasized how Maxis’ dedication to introducing innovation to the market and facilitating Industry 4.0 transformation via practical use cases is demonstrated by this relationship.

It said that Malaysia will lead the development of next-generation AI, Generative AI, IoT, and 5G-Advanced technologies in addition to 5G and cloud-native solutions.

Singtel Paragon helps organizations connect to the 5G network and securely install edge computing apps and services on the telco’s infrastructure, cutting time-to-market and innovation curve.

For businesses, Paragon will minimize MEC service adoption obstacles, boosting efficiency and creativity.
