Mubadala Investment Company, an Abu Dhabi sovereign investor, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire KELIX bio, a specialty pharmaceutical company that specializes in delivering complex generics across emerging markets.
The UAE hopes to become a global leader in this field, support economic diversification, and further strengthen its position in the industry.

Since its founding in November 2020, KELIX Bio has successfully acquired manufacturing companies in Egypt, Morocco, India, and Malta in order to expand its product line of injectable and oral formulations, which covers a wide range of therapeutic areas such as diabetes, oncology, cardiology, and central nervous systems.
The acquisition is expected to improve UAE’s reputation in the bio sciences on a worldwide scale. The decision is in line with Mubadala’s objective to establish the UAE as a major player in the global life sciences industry, as Kelix Bio specializes in pertinent therapy areas and has a leadership team with extensive expertise in buy-and-build methods worldwide.
